Ramble Ramble Ramble

This past weekend was super relaxing, which I needed... if you follow my Facebook or Twitter page, you know that hubby and I have decided to get a house, so things are going to be stressful soon, but it's time to get out of the apartment situation!  Should give me lots of insight for my writing, since eventually some of my characters are going to need to move into houses.  A few of them are already there, but Hilary and Liam are still in their apartment.  I'm having a lot of fun with their novella and I'm right on track to have it out in July, which makes me happy.  It's going to be about 30k words or so.

Literotica has been making me want to facepalm a bit lately.  Someone apparently took umbrage over the fact that I said "he plundered her backdoor" in one of my stories, and lectured me on the incorrect use of the word "plunder."  They very thoughtfully included a dictionary definition.  Apparently they've never heard of creative license.  I think 'plunder' is a perfect word, esp when it comes to the backdoor and there's an element of reluctance.  Pillage works too, in my opinion.  That one was pretty eye-roll worthy, although it also just makes me wonder about some people.  The real kickers were the whiners who read 23 chapters of Taken by the Wolf so that they could complain about both the length and the content.  It's like eating an entire meal and then saying it was terrible.

Although, honestly, that's not even what makes me shake my head at them.  What makes me shake my head is wondering what their possible motivation could be.  It's a little too late to go back and change the story, even if I was so inclined.  Do they think they're going to make me stop writing?  Or are they just miserable people who need to put others down to feel better about themselves?  Sometimes I wonder if they're jealous failed writers.  Or maybe they're just people who have never taken a creative writing class and don't know what constructive criticism is and also don't realize that, after taking a creative writing class, generalizations just aren't that insulting.

You haven't been torn up till you've taken a creative writing class and had people TEAR it apart, with valid and specific criticism.  I'm lucky, I've always been pretty good at taking criticism, but it still can be rough.  And then the teacher tells you that it's not very literary, which is followed by a blank look when you tell them that you want to write pop fiction, not literature.  LOL.  Worst English major, ever.  I always wondered what would happen if I brought one of my dirty stories to class.  Sometimes I wish I'd been brave enough.  Probably would have been hilarious.

Seriously though, it makes me wonder... do people actually go to Literotica looking for something other than stroke stories?  Cuz that's never what I thought it was for.  I make sure to try and have some kind of erotic content in every single chapter, because the few times that I haven't, people get all whiny about that too.  I know I can't please all of the people all of the time, but it does seem weird that people would complain about too much erotic content when the word "erotica" is part of the site's name.  So if you read on Lit, what do you go there for?

    1. LOL good point!
I won't lie the first time I got a look at a Playboy I complained too. I thought the pictures were going to be more graphic. My boyfriend at the time told me that Playboy wasn't the magazine for me and that I should try Hustler - but honestly, I don't think that would've satisfied me either LOL

  2. --just think of it as providing 2 services: 1. for those who would like to read free erotic fiction and 2. for those who want to complain about free erotic fiction (and possibly a third service who just need to complain anonymously -- but read every single chapter!)

-- and some people just put the dick in dictionary consultation ;)

All in all it's June, it's sunny and life is good :)

  3. I've been reading some stuff on Wattpad due to some Lit writers moving over there.
It's left me rather disturbed; it makes Lit look like it has high standards. Yeah, there's the bad writing and illiteracy but despite the ratings system (G, PG13, R - restricted), I've never seen so much underage sex, pregnancy, violence against women, rape, abuse and name-calling. Girls are commonly and nastily called sluts.
You posted that Twilight/domestic violence photo the other day, that's how many of the 'relationships' are.
And yet, there is a strange lack of actual, well-described physical interaction.
And then there's the fan thing, where one person can set thousands of 'fangirls' (i.e. vicious bitches) on another for no reason whatsoever...
It is supposed to be a hangout for mostly teenagers. This horrifies me.
So, things could be worse on Lit.

    1. Yikes, well that's good to know. Ugh... that's the kind of thing that makes me not want to have kids. Because teenagers today are freaking ridiculous. I have a tendency to blame their parents though. Someone's not raising all these assholes right.

  4. What I've loved about the writers that I watch for on Lit (you included) is all the different and creative ways you use to describe sex. Makes it more fun and interesting when reading! And I think Lit is like any other "board" people hide behind a screen name and start pointing fingers and lecturing...it can be entertaining as a reader to go through the comments sometimes-but I'd imagine as a writer it might be frustrating!

    1. heh well thank you! it's hard coming up with making the sex diff every time, but I do my best!

Sometimes I'm amused by comments, sometimes they frustrate me... all depends on the day and the comment!

    2. I've never posted for any authors from lit be it on their sites or lit, but i had to here. I found the whining about stroke stories laughable, as did my husband. It's on literotica under non-con... I do not believe anyone goes there looking for no sex. Maybe in non-erotic, how to, or novels/novellas but in nonconsent? Just ignore the hateful buggers. I didn't think I'd enjoy Taken By the Wolf so much, but I wait for it anxiously. Partly because I know you'll include some great story content along with creatively hot sex scenes that push boundaries.

So to answer your question, when my husband and I go to literotica (together or separately) we go for the thrill of... Erotica. Duh. It's in the name and anyone saying that's not what they want are full of it.

Keep up the great work. I've reread Being the Maid three times, and not just for the enjoyable story. ;)

    3. LOL thank you! And yeah, I'm all about Literotica for the erotica! I seriously am confused by someone who would go to a site called that for something else.

That's like going to an ice cream shop and being upset they don't have pancakes. Say what?! lol.

Glad you're enjoying Taken by the Wolf so much! Honestly, I wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy this story either, but I am really digging doing the dark stuff.

  5. Why do I think they are the same people that say they've "Never have watch porn" and "Have never masturbated."

To answer your question, It a lot better then the depressing news, 200+ channels of "nothing good to watch" TV and escaping from reality is so much better with hot sex!

    1. LOL which comment? The one about anal sex? LOL. I was like woah... hahahaha. ppl need some edumacation.

I also had to shake my head at the author's comment... while I transfer some of my work over to Kindle, after revising it so that it's not the EXACT same thing that's available for free, I would never start a story on a free site and then only make the ending available for $$. That's just messed up. Author's need to eat too, but it's one thing to show off your work in hopes to get people to buy your other work, and another to try basically extort money from them by not providing them with closure on a story unless they pay!
