Balance

Just a warning, this post might be a wee bit rambly...

Received a comment on my previous post reminding me that it's been 6 days since I last wrote a post and I was like "oh crap!"  Kinda can't believe it's been that long.

Balance is something I constantly struggle with in life.  In high school it was a huge group of friends, my family, a grandmother with cancer, a boyfriend, AP classes, honors classes, Chamber Singers, church choir, church handbells, church youth group, Council on the church youth group, Varsity swimteam and theater.  Now it's a large group of friends, my family, my husband's family, my husband, work, writing for Lit, writing books, ballroom dance classes and keeping up with the cleaning / meals / laundry / grocery shopping / etc.  Oh, and I'm moving in a week and a half.  And had already filled up my weekends with plans for this month long before I knew we'd be moving so all the packing is being done during the weekdays.

ACK.

It gets a little overwhelming sometimes.  I've been concentrating so much on finishing Dealing With Discipline (and I'm SO SO CLOSE) that hubby was starting to feel neglected, which meant he was also getting passive-aggressive and snippy.  Although he's pretty dominant in the bedroom we haven't quite worked out the balance of how that works outside of the bedroom - especially when he doesn't want to interrupt me because I'm in the middle of writing.  I think if he just said "Hey Angel, get your fine ass over here so I can spank it" I'd probably drop whatever I'm doing, but the truth is sometimes he just wants to spend time with me and that makes it more difficult when I'm in the middle of a good writing bout.  Most of the time he's pretty patient with it, but the amount of time I've spent writing has taken a bit of a toll.

So for the past couple of days I've been trying to pay attention to him in the evening which means that Dealing is taking just a bit longer than I'd hoped.  It's also turning out to be a bit longer.  I thought I was working on the last chapter but I'm nearing the end of it and realizing that I'm going to need one more chapter before I move on to the epilogue.  Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I'm certainly not going to shortchange a chapter just because I'm excited and want to complete the book.  But I am SO very close that it's meant I haven't been focusing on other things at all.

I did have the opportunity to let my nerd out the past two days.  This past weekend I was up in Pittsburgh to visit a friend for a girls' weekend (first time in Pittsburgh and can I just say I really enjoyed it?  Wasn't at all what I expected) and we went to a gaming store and I got my first every cooperative game - Elder Sign - which hubby and I have been playing for the past two evenings.  We used to play games a lot more often so I figured it would be a good thing for us to do together and it's nice to work together on a game rather than against each other.  Took us a bit to get everything set up and understand how the game works but now that we have a better understanding of it the game play goes a lot faster =)  It's a fun game if you like dice/card games and we have a good time with it.  My nerd is showing! lol

Anyway... so that's what's going on with me.  Sincerely hoping to have Dealing with Discipline finished by Friday and be editing over the weekend (or, well, when I get back from Busch Gardens on Sunday lol).  I'm very much hoping to have August 1 be the publish date =)  That's the goal at the moment, which puts me right on schedule for when I originally said it would be out.  YAY!

    1. LOL no problem! I'd meant to update over the weekend and forgot because I ended up getting back from Pittsburgh later than I thought I would.

      Thank you for the reminder!
